From November 28-29, “Academic seminar in Memory of the 145^th Birthday of Qiu Feng Chia”was taking place on the South Campus of Sun Yat-sen University. About 70 scholars from Taiwan Feng Chia University, National Cheng Chi University, and the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Soochow University, Sun Yat-sen University and Jinan University gathered together and discussed the anecdotes, patriotic spirits, poems and other aspects of Qiu Feng Chia. Chen Chunsheng, vice President of Sun Yat-sen University as well as the Director of Taiwan Research Institute, attended the opening ceremony where he briefed on the states of Sun Yat-sen University and Taiwan Research Center. Meanwhile he expected that relevant academic institutions would make joint efforts to promote the development of Qiu Feng Chia academic research.

"Mainland and Taiwan" column group of CCTV 4 filmed and interviewed the grandniece of Qiu Feng Chia, Qiu Xiuzhi, a Taiwanese writer. A special coverage featuring “the academic seminar on qiu feng chia by Scholars from Both Sides of Taiwan Strait” was air November 29 on the program of "Mainland and Taiwan".

The seminar was co-organized by the SYSU --Taiwan Research Institute, Historical and Cultural Relics Research Center of Taiwan Feng Chia University, Guangdong Social Sciences Association and Guangdong Qiu Feng Chia Research Society.
