From September 17 to 18, 2009 Flagship Project Mission in Philosophy from German Academy of Sciences paid a visit to the Philosophy Department of Sun Yat-sen University. The world- leading mission is made up of 9 first-rate experts in studies of Leibniz, Kant, Hegel, Marx and Engels, Nietzsche as well as compiling experts of the latest version Collective Works. Li Ping, SYSU’s deputy secretary greeted the members of the mission and the both parties carried on cordial conversations.
The deputy secretary Li Ping expressed the hope of strengthening mutual communication and cooperation in all aspects so as to promote the study in philosophy, especially in literature, of Sun Yat-sen University. Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Volker Gerhard, the vice-president of Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences, briefed on their research projects and tasks of each Academy of Science in German. He also expressed his hope that cooperation would be promoted through some relevant research projects to encourage exchanges between China and German both in ideology and culture.
Subsequently, Prof. Dr. Volker Gerhard, Prof. Dr. Manfred Neuhaus (director of editorial department for Marx and Engels Collected Works from Berlin Academy of Sciences),and Dr. Regina Roth (also from editorial department for Marx and Engels Collected Works of Berlin Academy of Sciences) launched wonderful lectures respectively for the teachers as well as students in philosophy department on “Nietzsche: Against Philosophy While Thinking in Philosophy”, "classical - the basis and perspectives of the history as well as edit philosophy Marx and Engels Collected Works (MEGA2) “ and “Look into Marx's Studio: the “Discussion on Capital” and preparation work of Marx and Engels Collected Works “.Through detailed and accurate data, these experts showed the latest research achievements in the field of philosophy ,particularly of studies on literature in contemporary German, emphasizing the crucial of the textual substance to philosophy studies.
The visiting group together with the faculty and students of the Philosophy Department held a forum on the cutting edge of the current issue of German philosophy, presenting further information on the editorial work of Complete Works by Leibniz, Kant, Hegel and Nietzsche, etc. Moreover, they proceeded on profound and enlightening communication on the frontier issue of current German philosophy.
