Sun Yat-sen University ICPC World Finals Team Returns with 21st Place

The 43rd Annual World Finals of the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) was held on March 31- April 5, 2019 in Porto, Portugal. The Sun Yat-sen University Team, which consisted of the undergraduate students from School of Data and Computer Science Kaiqi Wang, Jianhao Fan, and Zhen Huang, earned the 21st place in the world and the 6th place in Chinese mainland. Professor Songshan Guo, Dr. Han Lin and Prof. Zizhen Zhang were the coaches of the SYSU team.

This year’s competition attracted more than 50,000 contestants from 3,233 colleges and universities in 110 countries and regions around the world. A total of 135 teams emerged from the continents, including 17 universities in Chinese mainland, advanced to the World Finals. The top winners of World Finals 2019 were Moscow State University in Russia taking the 1st place, Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the United States taking the 2nd place, and The University of Tokyo in Japan taking the 3rd place. 6 universities in Chinese mainland have entered the top 25 in the world: Fudan University, Nanjing University, Peking University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Tsinghua University, and Sun Yat-sen University.
