On July 1-3, the 2018 Chinese Taekwondo (Poomsae) Championships for College Students was held in Qian’an, Hebei province. Ten students from ten schools of Sun Yat-sen University participated in the competition, winning 4 gold, 5 silver and 2 bronze medals.
With total scores ranking first in both men’s group A and women’s group A competitions, SYSU team was awarded the title of Outstanding Team, and Guo Zhongmin was awarded the title of Outstanding Coach. It’s worth mentioning that Miss Chen Jiayi from SYSU’s School of International Studies won three golds in the individual, mixed double and team match.

SYSU team has participated in the Chinese Taekwondo (Poomsae) Championships for College Students since 2016, winning four golds, three silvers and two bronzes in 2016, three golds, five silvers and three bronzes in 2017, and four golds, five silvers and two bronzes in 2018, showcasing SYSU students’ strength in the competitions.
