On October 7, the 2017 Chinese University Students Wushu Tournament came to an end in Loudi city, Hunan province. Nearly 900 students from 88 teams took part in the competition. The Wushu Team from Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU) won four gold, one silver and one bronze medals.

Under the guidance of three tutors Long Guoqiang, Li Xiaobing and Li Peng, SYSU students won gold medals in the 42-form Taiji Sword (Long Tengfang from School of Chemistry), Chen Style Taijiquan (Chen Zhao from International School of Business and Finance), Bajiquan (Xu Yue from Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hospital), and Hongquan (Xiao Bangyang from Sino-French Institute of Nuclear Engineering and Technology), showcasing the demeanor of SYSU students.
