On September 16, 2017, the the 13th National Student Sports Games came to an end in Hangzhou. Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU) sent 31 students to compete in swimming, track and field, and women’s volleyball, winning 2 gold, 4 silver and 9 bronze medals, and breaking the Games’ record in men’s 4x100 meter freestyle relay. SYSU was also awarded the “President’s Cup”.

This is the sixth time that SYSU has won the “President’s Cup” at the National Student Sports Games, which indicates the outstanding achievements since the implementation of the “Sports Development Plan of Sun Yat-sen University”.

On the afternoon of September 21, SYSU President Luo Jun met with the coaches and student athletes who took part in the 13th National Student Sports Games. He expressed congratulations on their achievements and praised their spirit of striving for excellence. President Luo Jun also encouraged the students and coaches to make greater achievements and play a leading role in the sports development of the university.
