Two Graduates from SYSU Was Awarded 100 Leadership Scholarship

The award ceremony of 2010-2011 100 Leadership Scholarship was held in Beijing on April 25. This year, 28 excellent graduates were awarded the 100 Leadership Scholarship and 10 graduates major in fine arts were awarded the 100 Leadership Scholarship (of Art). Wang Shuai, a graduate of Grade 2009 from School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, SYSU and Wang Zhuo, a graduate of Grade 2009 from School of Sociology and Anthropology, SYSU won the honorable scholarship. With outstanding leadership and comprehensive quality, Wang Shuai ran into Top 10.

The Committee of 100 was established by I.M. Pei, Yo-Yo Ma and other Chinese-Americans in 1990. The Committee has been playing an important role in improving the communication between Asian and American culture, the mutual understanding and the exchanges between Chinese and Americans. The 100 Leadership Scholarship was set up by the Committee of 100 with the purpose of awarding Chinese graduates who are excellent in character and learning, have a strong leadership as well as have active participation in social service. Since 2005, more than 100 graduates from all over the country were awarded the scholarship. Altogether, 12 graduates from Sun Yat-sen University have ever won the award.
