SYSU Students Set Out for Nansha to Explore Folk Religion

Guangzhou, July 18th, 2010, the Southern City News:The first trimester of SYSU--a semester of social practice has been running in Nansha, and students are carrying out a discovery journey of the intangible cultural heritage.

As is informed, SYSU firstly set up three semesters in an academic year in 2009. According to the arrangement, the third semester focuses on social practice. And this year it is running from July 4th to August 4th. 42 students will leave the classroom and ready for the field work by dwelling in countryside. Students will visit Tangkeng village and Lujing village, and carry out studies in batch.

One student with the surname of Zhang, said that it's fresh and challenging to go out to the fields. There were lectures before, which laid the foundation for the field trips. And students can learn the cultural unity and specialty of Pearl River Delta, including Hongkong, and broaden their mind. Both teachers and students wish that they can have a profound understanding of Nansha's cultural relics and historic sites, popular religion and humanity history through this research.
