Students of SYSU Crowned in the Finals of the 2nd Cross-Strait Interpretation Contest, South China Area

On April 30th, the Finals of the 2nd Cross-Strait Interpretation Contest, South China Area took place at Jinan University. 46 contestants from colleges of Guangdong, Guangxi and Fujian competed fiercely for the three places to enter the National Finals. At last, Ge Li, an English majored undergraduate from the School of Foreign Languages, SYSU won No.1. And she will represent the South-China Area to attend the National Finals which will take place mid May in Xiamen.

The contest is made up of three parts, Conversation Interpretation, Meeting Interpretation and Comprehensive Knowledge. With their solid trainings in English, skilled interpretation techniques and rich encyclopedic knowledge, all the four students sent by SYSU entered the quarter-final in the afternoon as top ten after the Conversation Interpretation round in the morning. Then after the trials of the Meeting Interpretation and Comprehensive Knowledge test, Ge Li stood out and finally got the First Prize with the highest score. Liu Hao, a Translation majored undergraduate, 2006 from the School of International Studies, SYSU, and Pan Yinchun, a Translation majored undergraduate, 2007 from the School of International Studies, SYSU won the Second Prize. Wang Danqing, an English majored undergraduate,2007 from the School of Foreign Languages, SYSU won the Third Prize.
