Invited by American Astronomical Society, Ye Quanzhi, a senior from the School of Environmental Science and Engineering attended the Annual Meeting of the Division for Planetary Sciences of the American Astronomical Society in Puerto Rico from October 4-10, and a gave a report on “An Overview of Lulin Sky Survey”.

As the most prestigious academic conference in the field of planetary sciences, Division for Planetary Sciences, largest academic organization of the American Astronomical Society, has been holding 42 annual meetings since its inception. Ye Quanzhi is devoted to longitudinal research on asteroids, and he is the first Chinese to discover NEAT Asteroid. His research findings had been published in IAU Circular and Minor Planet Electronic Circulars. He also received 2007 Gene Shoemaker NEO Grant, First Prize of 11th “Challenge Cup” National Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Competition, and 2007 Outstanding National CLY Member Award. Given the remarkable achievements of his research on asteroids, Mr. Hansen, vice-chairman of the Division for Planetary Sciences of the American Astronomical Society personally extended the invitation to Ye Quanzhi to attend the annual meeting, and provided conference grants which would cover part of the conference expenses. And this is the first time that a Chinese student has been invited to attend the meeting.

In addition, SYSU Youth Association and School of Environmental Science and Engineering have provided ample conference grants to Ye Quanzhi for his convenience to participate in the top-tier astronomical conference.
