Recently, Professor Harald Pachlaner, the director of the Department of Tourism and the Center for Entrepreneurship at the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt (CU), and his research assistant Mr. Christian Nordhorn paid a visit to the School of Tourism Management, Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU) with 17 of their postgraduates. Ms. Yang Ya, the Secretary for Foreign Affairs of the School of Tourism Management, Ms. Chen Wanxin and 12 postgraduates from the School cordially received the guests.

Pick up at the Airport
At the meeting held on South Campus of SYSU, Ms. Yang and Prof. Pachlaner respectively introduced SYSU and CU. They reviewed the past cooperation between the two institutes and expressed the hope for future collaborations. Later, students from both sides started a seminar in which six groups of students delivered various speeches about different topics in tourism, after which all the students and teachers joined together for a discussion. The topics of speeches given by the three groups of German students were: “What makes German tourism successful?”, “The Integration of tourism and industry” and “Health Tourism”; Ms. Chen and two students Kou Lirong and Zhuo Shaobing presented a talk respectively on “The development characteristic and influential factors of Canton Fair’s green exhibition: A perspective from knowledge diffusion”, “The integration of Tibetan retired migrant”, and “Heritage responsibility: content and subjects”. Afterwards, the teachers and students made comments or raised questions.

Discussion
The German teachers and students also had a tour of Guangzhou and the South Campus of SYSU accompanied by their Chinese friends. The students had more communication in the sightseeing.
The German guests highly praised the academic performance of our students and expressed their sincere thanks. The activity has deepened the understanding between German and Chinese students and will promote better cooperation in the future.
