The 2011 "SYSU Impression" Photography Contest,hosted by Party Propaganda Department and SYSU Youth League, co-sponsored by the Student Union, 5D Space, and supported by "SYSU Youth" newspaper as well as the correspondent stations of the news center, unveiled the results in the South Campus New Year's Dancing Party on the evening of 31 December 2011. Party Propaganda Department Minister Xie Manhua, Deputy Minister Zhu Zhihui, the School Youth League Deputy Secretary Liu Qinan attended the ceremony and presented the awards. Grand Prize winner, a second-year graduate student from School of Information and Technology Xie Xuefeng delivered a speech where he thanked the Party Propaganda Department, Youth League, 5D Space, Student Union for organizing the photography contest which provided opportunities to show students’ individual talents.

In order to expand the influence of the competition, the organizing committee set up an official contest site in the 5D Space, and arranged on-site consultations in four campuses; they spread the contest news to teachers and students through network channels such as 5D Space, Sina Weibo, Renren and so on. Since its opening on November 1, 2011, the contest has been strongly supported by teachers, students and alumni. Up to November 25, 1697 contest entries were received. The organizing committee screened and determined 224 entries to enter the public group and professional group (112 for each). During November 26 to 30, entries were on display in 5D Space where Internet voting was also held. After competitive voting and rigorous expert reviews, the organizing committee finally named 39 winning entries for public group and professional group.
2011 "SYSU Impression" Photography Contest has ended, but the journey of discovering the beauty of SYSU is still ongoing. The organizing committee will exhibit the winning entries and part of the other entries for the itinerant four campuses tour next semester.
