To promote Chinese culture, to deepen and detail the ancient books and records ranslation, the First Analects of Confucius Translation Symposium was held in School of International Studies, SYSU during Nov 4-6th. The symposium was sponsored by School of International Studies, SYSU, Functional Linguists Research Institute of Sun Yat-sen University and co-sponsored by Higher Education Press, “China’s Foreign Language” (CSSCI source journals) editorial department.
The symposium invited Xu Yuanchong, Professor of Beijing University and renowned translator, and Wang Bin, famous theorist of literary criticism and Professor of SYSU to make the keynote speech. (Wang Bin, The Translation of ‘Analects of Confucius’ and Interpretation of Classics; Xu Yuanchong, My English Translation of ‘Analects of Confucius’.) In the meantime, Beijing University, Sun Yat-sen University, Sichuan University, University of International Business and Economics, Jinan University, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, Guangxi University for Nationalities, Zhejiang International Studies University, Foshan University of Science and Technology, Guangdong University of Finance, Weifang College, Xiangfan University Guangdong vocational College of Foreign Languages and Art, Beijing Institute of Technology College Zhuhai Academy and Higher Education Press were invited to the symposium. More than 20 renowned scholars from China Foreign Languages editorial department delivered speeches and made comments.
