Recently, in accordance with the news from Guangdong Province Propagandists and Ideological Work Committee and the spirit of On the Organization of the Second Competition of University Outstanding Campus Newspaper (Guangdong Province Propagandists Committee[2011] NO.1), the Education Department of Guangdong Province organized the Second Competition of University Outstanding Campus Newspaper on the basis of the success of the first competition in year 2008. The campus newspaper of Sun Yat-sen University was awarded with the first prize judged by the panel consisted of the authoritative media and newspaper staff from Guangdong Province.

The campus newspaper is a platform where students and teachers can exchange ideas and learn from each other. It is also a significant place and window to build advanced campus culture and display the image of the university. Under the guide of university party committee and years’ continuous efforts, recent years witnessed ‘The Newspaper of Sun Yat-sen University’ gradually developed and established its philosophy of running a newspaper which is ‘upholding the flag of idealism; following the spirit of professionalism and to make the best campus newspaper ’.
