School of International Studies Holds the Fifth Korean Cultural Festival

On December 5, the closing ceremony of the 5th Korean Cultural Festival hosted by Schoolof International Studies was held in Zhuhai Campus. Kim Jang-hwan consul general of South Korean Consulate General in Guangzhou, Lee Sho-yan deputy consul general, Chen Chunsheng vice-president of SYSU, Tang Yan secretary of Party Working Committee in Zhuhai Campus, and other leaders from Zhuhai Bureau of Education and Bureau of Foreign Affairs attended the ceremony. This cultural festival has received a lot of support and help from South Korean Consulate General in Guangzhou and Korea Tourism Organization Office in Guangzhou.

Chen Chunsheng in his address praised highly of this cultural festival which could show us the beauties of Korean culture and provided a platform for the students to know better the Korean culture and arts, also a good opportunity for the young to show their talents. And Kim Jang-hwan said that the annual cultural festival would bring about positive influences upon the relationship between China and South Korea.

At the ceremony there were many wonderful performances with exotic Korean features, for which the audience applauded many times. The traditional percussion music has shown an ancient Korean culture. And the hot song “Password 486” has demonstrated the vogue in Korea now. A fashion show with traditional and modern dancing in Korea performed by the international students from South Korea has shown the dresses of different times in Korea and helped the audience better understand the history and culture in South Korea. Chinese Students of SYSU had also brought wonderful lecture, beautiful melodies and other wonderful performances, which presented their proficiency and interest in learning Korea.
