On Saturday, June 13, a special concert was given by the Symphony Orchestra of SYSU at the student activity center of Zhuhai campus.

The theme of this concert was “Yesterday”, and it presented a variety of classic music by some of the most famous composers like Bach, Mozart, Liszt, Vivaldi, Yanni, etc. The concert began with The Four Seasons-Spring by Vivaldi, followed by the other nine pieces. The repertoire was in diversified forms including orchestra, string quartet, wind quintet, piano solo, chamber music and tango. Thanks to the joint effort made by the players, the performance was wonderful. Audience all enjoyed themselves and broke into enthusiastic applause from time to time. At last, Sun Zenghui, head of the orchestra, appeared on the stage and expressed his acknowledgment for everyone’s support. The concert then came to an end.

The Symphony Orchestra of SYSU was founded in 2000 directly under the leadership of the school’s Youth League Committee. Its repertoire is mainly based on concertos, supplemented by chamber music and solos by outstanding members. In addition to the rehearsals and competitions, they also give several performances each year, which benefits greatly to the enrichment of campus life.
