The School of Chinese as a Second Language (SCSL) held an internship programme renewal ceremony with the American International School of Guangzhou (AISG) on the South Campus on June 3rd, aiming to co-build fieldwork base between SCSL and AISG. Zhou Xiaobing, Dean of SCSL, Zhu Qizhi, Assistant Dean of SCSL, F.Joseph Stucker, Director of AISG, and nine Masters of Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages(MTCSOL), the first practicers who have finished their internship in AISG attended the ceremony.
This cooperation was regarded as a friendly relation continuation after the first cooperation between SCSL and AISG. Nine MTCSOLs from SCSL have taken a three-month-internship in primary and middle school of AISG from March to May 2010. Their responsible attitude to the work, solid theory knowledge and proficient language and teaching skills were appreciated by the school faculty.
According to the reports, during the teaching evaluation to AISG, officers from National Center for School Curriculum and Textbook Development Ministry of Education (NCCT) said though there are about 100 international schools in China, it's the first time for universities to build fieldwork base with international schools, and the cooperation between SYSU and AISG is a pioneer in the field.
