An intern recruitment was launched in the sports stadium of Zhuhai campus last Saturday. The fair was introduced and supported by the Career Center of Sun Yat-Sen University, aiming at providing job training opportunities for undergraduates. Over 80 companies participated in the fair; most of them have work place right in Zhuhai. And about 500 job opportunities were offered, attracting students from all disciplines including liberal, science and engineering.

The fair started at 9 AM, and many students had already been waiting outside the stadium. Two copies of resume and an identity card were required for an entrance check in order to maintain a proper number of people inside the stadium. Though the number of students participating in the fair was great, they kept a good order and caused no chaos during the fair. Most participants were juniors, while a few were sophomores or graduates. According to the Career Center, the companies had been told to offer more opportunities for younger students, like sophomores, to have job training during the summer vocation. However, many companies still insisted on choosing grade three or graduated students, for the reason that those students would be more qualified for the tasks or more likely to be working for the company when they graduate a year later.

All in all, the intern recruitment wrapped up successfully, with some students obtained their desired job opportunities; some failed but nonetheless received a good lesson from the preparations and interviews. Nowadays, it’s very important for high school students to accumulate more working experience, which can provide them with the abilities to work in the society after graduation. It is our sincere wish that intern recruitments like this would be carried out more often, offering more opportunities for students.
