2009 Kwang-hua Scholarship Awarding Ceremony Held in SYSU

The 2009 Kwang-hua Scholarship Awarding Ceremony was held on SYSU’s south campus on the afternoon of 23 November. Zeng Mengda, secretary of Kwang-hua Education Foundation, Xu Jiarui, Vice-president of SYSU, and presiding staff of related administrative offices attended the event. The ceremony was hosted by Mr. Zhao guodu, secretary-general of SYSU Education Development Foundation.

According to sources, 76 students were awarded Kwang-hua Scholarship this year, among whom, there were 27 doctorate students, 32 postgraduate students, 17 undergraduate students. Among the scholarship awardees, 11 students are from ethnic minorities.

On behalf of the University, Vice-president Xu Jiarui acknowledged at the ceremony that, the establishment of Kwang-hua Scholarship through out universities of China in order to reward outstanding students embodies the noble sense of social responsibility. He hoped that the award-winning students will foster in their future qualities of earnestness, persistence, a great sense of social responsibility, and gratefulness, and exert efforts to contribute to the development of SYSU and our country.

Mr. Zeng Dameng reviewed the state of development of Kwang-hua Scholarship since its establishment, and hoped that, the award-winning students would aspire to dedicate themselves to the thriving and flourishing of our country by serving in the construction industry, repaying their alma mater, and making contributions to the society to the best of their abilities when they have wrought achievements in their professions.
