On the afternoon of October 10, the SYSU Macau Alumni Association’s Care for Sichuan Earthquake Victims and Volunteer Teaching Photo Exhibition, with the focus on “Love and Growth”, was inaugurated in Xiong Delong Student Recreation Center on the South Campus. Li Ping, vice Party secretary of SYSU, and Xu Deming, president of Macao Alumni Association gave speeches in the opening ceremony.

Vice Secretary Li Ping acknowledged the achievements of the SYSU Macau students’ volunteer teaching in Sichuan, which was organized by SYSU Macau Alumni Association and stated that, this very act of caring for the victims of Sichuan earthquake was of great significance, adding laurels to the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, 85th anniversary of the founding of SYSU, 10th anniversary of Macao’s return to the mainland, and embodied the SYSU spirit of “Studying extensively, enquiring accurately, reflecting carefully, discriminating clearly, and practicing earnestly”.
The exhibition on display told the experiences of the representative alumni and 11 SYSU students from Macau who had volunteered from September 4-11 in Taziba middle school, Dujiangyan. The exhibition is expected to be on display in the other three campuses in the coming days, so as to inform more students of the current developments in the earthquake-hit areas in Sichuan Province, and encourage them to participate more actively in social cause by carrying out the spirit of the University motto.
The photo exhibition is hosted by the SYSU Alumni Association, SYSU Youth Association and the Macau Alumni Association, and organized by Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan Students Division of SYSU Student Association. Xu Dongli, the vice secretary-general of Alumni Association, Huang Shan, the secretary of SYSU Youth Association, and Dai Jianwei, chief councilor of Macao Alumni Association, attended the exhibition.
