Final of the Students Proposal Activity for “making Contribution to China, Developing with SYSU” Comes to a Close on South Campus

The final of the Students Proposal Activity for “Contributing to China, Developing with SYSU”, one of the activities for deepening the study and practice of Scientific Outlook on Development, was held in Swasey Hall of the South Campus on the evening of June 24th. Huang Daren, president of SYSU, and Li Xiangzhi, associate to the president, attended the activity and respectively presented awards to the winners of the first and second prizes. Huang Qianwei, student from School of Tourism Management, won the first prize with the proposal “building teaching and study style while SYSU implementing the ‘three-semester system’”, while Liang Yanchun, student from Zhongshan School of Medicine, and Huang Rongbin, student from School of Environment Science and Engineering, won the second prizes respectively with their proposals “advice to rational use of electricity in classroom over the weekend” and “practicing the Scientific Outlook on Development, exploring the recycling system of old textbooks”. In addition, three students received the third prizes, while four students were awarded for excellence.

The activity attracted students from more than 30 schools and departments to participate. After the first round, Internet voting and semi-final, ten proposals were selected into the final of that night. The ten finalist, who came from four campuses, put forward their proposals centering on the issues of “three-semester system”, recycling of the textbooks, campus road planning, canteen order, energy saving and use of electricity in classroom and psychological counseling mechanism, and made on-site presentations from aspects of raising the issues, feasibility analysis, cost analysis and effect assessment.

The activity was sponsored by Student Affairs Office and Graduates Office of SYSU Committee of the CPC as well as SYSU Youth Association, and co-organized by SYSU Student Union and SYSU Youth Newspaper.
