Huang Peisen was enrolled in the 5-year program of clinical medicine in Zhongshan School of Medicine in 2009. Now he has been recommended to study for his PhD degree in Beijing Fuwai Hospital, where he will receive top-notch training in cardiovascular diseases. During the past five years at SYSU, he did research in the lab, attended the Asia-Pacific Medical Student Symposium, took part in the "Challenge Cup" National Undergraduate Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Works Competition, and joined SYSU North Campus Red Cross Society and Youth Volunteer Association. Huang Peisen said that he would never forget Vice President Li Mengfeng’s advice: care about patients, serve the society, keep learning medical knowledge, engage in clinical practice and scientific research.

Eight years at SYSU

Li Yufei, M.D., is graduating from the 8-year program of clinical medicine in Zhongshan School of Medicine. She will work in Singapore and apply what she has learned at SYSU. She said the clinical practice and internship in SYSU affiliated hospitals improved her clinical competences and communication skills. Her study experience at Oxford in May and June last year also broadened her horizons. Of course, Li Yufei’s college life was more than just studying. She was an alto in the SYSU North Campus Chorus, and as a member of “Polar2”, won the fourth place in the 23rd SYSU Venus Singing Competition North Campus Final.

Degrees in hand

Zhang Qin, S.M.M., from Guanghua School of Stomatology, has chosen to work in a private clinic in Shanghai, and plans to set up a cancer counseling center with her friends. She said that medical students should have a broader vision in addition to theoretical knowledge and clinical skills. She is the founder of a volunteer teaching team and the Toastmaster Speaking Club on North Campus. She also took part in the Half Marathon. Extracurricular experiences give her courage and confidence to start up a business.

With solid foundation and rigorous attitude, SYSU medical students will write new chapters in the pursuit of their dreams.
