The time capsule is a service launched by SYSU Youth Association in the graduation season. By showing the student card, the graduating student can get a small bag free of charge. The student can write a letter to himself or herself, and put the letter and little things into the bag. These time capsules will be stored in Sun Yat-sen University Archives for five years, and will be opened by the students themselves after five years.

The time capsule keeps my memory and dream.

The “truth” about time capsules

The time capsule service started in 2011. This year the time capsule has changed from a paper bag into a canvas bag. SYSU motto is printed on the front and a three-quarter clock on the back, which symbolizes that the time stops here and your future has just started.

Meanwhile, the registration system of time capsules has been improved. Each time capsule has an index card in two copies, one to be stuck on the time capsule and another to be kept by the student. The card number, together with the student number, ID number and mobile phone number, will be recorded into an Excel spreadsheet, making it easier for the students to find their time capsules.

This year, 4,000 time capsules (including 2,200 single version and 1,800 double version) will be distributed in the four days of the graduation season.

See you at the next station.
