On November 19, Sun Yat-sen University, which recently celebrated its 100th anniversary, welcomed a distinguished guest—Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, UAE Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah. This marks Sheikh Saud’s second visit to Guangdong after his first trip in September, during which he toured Shenzhen and Dongguan. For his return, Sun Yat-sen University was the first stop on his itinerary.
During his visit, Sheikh Saud engaged in in-depth discussions with university leaders on topics such as education, healthcare, culture, and talent development. He also shared his unique perspectives on global cooperation and cultural exchange in a dialogue with student representatives. Encouraging the students to embrace future challenges, Sheikh Saud called on them to act as bridges for future China-UAE collaboration.
In an exclusive interview with Daily Bae, Professor Xiao Haipeng, Executive Vice President of Sun Yat-sen University and President of the First Affiliated Hospital, SYSU, highlighted the strong foundation of collaboration between the university and the UAE, particularly in the healthcare sector. He expressed hope for building closer ties with the UAE to jointly tackle future healthcare challenges.
