LIU Jike, a native of Tianmen, Hubei Province, was born in May 1967. He received his Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree, and PhD in Engineering from Northwestern Polytechnical University in 1989, 1991, and 1993 respectively. Dr. Liu entered the mechanics postdoctoral research station at Northwestern Polytechnical University in 1993, and joined Sun Yat-sen University in 1995. He became a full professor in 2000 and a PhD supervisor in 2001. He concurrently assumed the role of Deputy Director of the Office of Science and Technology in 2000. In February 2003, he became Deputy Director of the Office of Teaching Affairs. From September 2003 to October 2008, he served as Director of the Office of Teaching Affairs and Director of the Higher Education Evaluation Center.
In August 2016, he became Director of the Division of Academic Disciplinary Development in the Office of Development and Planning. He assumed the post of Deputy Director of the Office of Development and Planning in March 2017, and Director of the Office of Development and Planning in August 2017. He was appointed Assistant President of Sun Yat-sen University in November 2017. In December 2020, he became a member of the Standing Committee of SYSU Party Committee and Vice President of SYSU.
