Dr. XIAO Haipeng, MD, PhD, a native of Canton, was born in August, 1964. He is a Professor of Medicine and Doctoral Supervisor. He received his medical degree from School of Medicine, Sun Yat-sen University of Medical Sciences in 1988 and has worked in the First Affiliated Hospital, SYSU ever since. Dr. Xiao earned his PhD degree in Endocrinology in 1997 and is now Chief Expert in Endocrinology in the First Affiliated Hospital, SYSU, and “Distinguished Doctor in Sun Yat-sen University” .
Dr. Xiao’s other appointments include Member of the 25th Board of Directors, Chinese Medical Association; Vice President, China Endocrine and Metabolism Association, Chinese Medical Doctors Association; Vice Secretary General, Clinical Teaching Committee of Medical Education, Ministry of Education; Member of Association for Medical Education in Europe (AMEE). He was awarded 2nd Prize for National Teaching Achievement, and was named Baogang Distinguished Teacher (Ministry of Education), Guangdong Distinguished Teacher, Distinguished Teacher of “Guangdong Special Sponsorship Project”, Excellent Teacher in South China, and served as English Presenter for the bidding of 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou.
During 2003-2014, Dr. Xiao took up several positions such as Deputy Director, Department of Teaching Administration, SYSU; Deputy Director of Medical Education, SYSU; Vice President of The First Affiliated Hospital, SYSU; Vice Dean, Zhongshan School of Medicine; Director of Medical Education, SYSU. Dr. Xiao became Secretary of Party Committee of First Affiliated Hospital, SYSU in April, 2014, and later President of First Affiliated Hospital, SYSU in November, 2014. He was appointed Vice President of Sun Yat-sen University in May, 2017. He was appointed Executive Vice President of Sun Yat-sen University in July, 2020.
