Video Meeting on COVID-19 Held between Brigham and Woman’s Hospital and FAH-SYSU

On February 14, 2020, a video meeting on hospital emergency preparedness and peer-to-peer professional exchange of best practices related to caring and preparing to care for patients with Coronavirus Disease (COVID-2019) was held between Brigham and Women’s Hospital and the First Affiliated Hospital, Sun Yat-sen University (FAH-SYSU).

Prof. Xiao Haipeng, Vice President of SYSU and President of FAH-SYSU, Prof. Kuang Ming, Vice President of FAH-SYSU, and experts in the Department of Emergency Medicine, Critical Care Medicine and Respiratory Medicine from FAH-SYSU attended the meeting with Dr. Mark Davis, Vice President of Brigham Health International, Prof. Eric Goralnick, Medical Director of the Brigham Health Access Center and Emergency Preparedness, and Epidemiologist Prof. Michael Klompas from Brigham and Women's Hospital, affiliated with Harvard Medical School.

The two sides shared their experience in managing patients with COVID-19 and discussed emergency response procedures. FAH-SYSU looks forward to working with all international partners to share best practices.

Medical Supplies from Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Partners HealthCare Arrived in FAH-SYSU

On February 14, 2020, 13,100 pieces of medical protective equipment were sent by Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Partners HealthCare to the First Affiliated Hospital, Sun Yat-sen University.

Medical Supplies from BWH Arrived in FAH-SYSU

“Thank you to Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Partners HealthCare, who were able to support us with this donation. We are experiencing a shortage of medical supplies, and this donation enables us to provide care to our patients without disrupting the preparedness efforts that are underway at their hospitals,” said by President Xiao Haipeng of FAH-SYSU.

Medical supplies were transported by air with the support of Sun Yat-sen University Alumni Association, China Southern Airline Company Limited, and Guangzhou Customs District, P. R. China.

FAH-SYSU extended heartfelt and most sincere thankfulness for the tremendous support. The hospital looks forward to continuing working together with international partners in the future for the betterment of health for mankind.
