On December 27th, 2012, Wu Ninghua gave her last lecture of the year in Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center. This time, she invited several cancer fighters across the world to the lecture.
After working in SUSU Cancer Center as a nurse for twenty-eight years and then as a radiotherapy technician for five years, Wu Ninghua retired in 2003. However, she never really retired from her career. For six years, she has volunteered to answer cancer patients’ questions about their illness and give them advice on healthy diet. Moreover, she has offered psychological counseling and touched the issue of life and death.
While Ms. Wu’s lectures become increasingly popular, attendance has grown from zero to full house. At nearly seventy years old, she has some health issues, yet she has never given even a passing thought to quitting. Ms Wu is determined to keep enjoying “the feeling of being needed” in the new year, "My dream is to keep giving lectures until I’m not able to do so anymore.” (Nanfang Daily Reporter: Cao Si; Correspondent: Huang Jinjuan, Ou Xiaofang)
