The first automatic medicine machine appeared in the Sixth Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University (namely Guangdong Gastrointestinal Hospital). It is a robot which can dispense kinds of medicines and handle a prescription in 8 seconds. Compared to an average of 30 seconds to process a prescription formerly, the prescription speed had been greatly accelerated.

Yesterday, a ceremony was held to celebrate the 48th anniversary of the Hospital’s establishment cum the 5th anniversary of the Hospital’s Lifting in the newly enabled 29-story medical building. After the new medical building was put into use, the sickbed would reach 1,200, including 700 sickbeds for gastrointestinal patients.The hospital has become the largest gastrointestinal and anal hospital nationwide. To some extent, this could alleviate the difficulty of medical service and the shortage of sickbeds, etc.
Yesterday, the new clinic began to run. The hospital also invested more than 30 million RMB to purchase the equipment of CT and other high-tech equipments, owning the most advanced CT equipment in Guangdong.

Among the new equipments in the new building, the automatic medicine machine was the freshest one. After the patients made their payment, the information would be automatically sent to the pharmacy. When the giant automatic medicine machine received relevant data, it began to spit the medicine. This automatic medicine machine had 21 layers with 1071 grids per layer inside storing 1071 drug specifications, a total of 20,000 boxes of medicines.
