The 2012 Spring-welcoming Sodality & Excellent Dean Award Ceremony, hosted by Guangdong Province Hospital Association, was held on the afternoon of January 12. Guangdong Province Vice-governor Lei Yulan, former Vice-governor Li Lanfang, Director Yao Zhibin of Department of Health attended the ceremony. Vice-governor Lei Yulan and Director Yao Zhibin awarded the gold medal and certificate of merit to the first Guangdong hospital excellent deans. Dean Shen Huiyong of Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hospital, Dean Ge Jian of Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center and Dean Ling Junqi of Hospital of Stomatology, Guanghua School of Stomatology won the first “Excellent Dean of Guangdong Province Hospital” Award.

It is known that the judges were selected among the province membership organizations, through the stages of internal recommendation, competent department’s approval, preliminary examination by Guangdong Province Hospital Association and the Review Committee’s appraisal. This award is set up to honor those deans and hospital administrators who have the courage to reform and innovate in medical treatment and health services, who have managed strictly, explored and practiced actively, made great efforts in improving hospital and department management and achieved outstanding performance. The excellent representatives are expected to become models of their hospitals, encourage hospitals to innovate and explore new modes of management, keep improving the overall standard of management, technology, operation, service, etc, and to create a more glorious future for Guangdong Province hospital reform and development.
