SYSU Research on the Mechanism of Carcinogenesis of Liver Cancer and Colorectal Cancer and Tumor Markers Has Made Progress

Source: Medical Science Department

Recently, Professor Xie Dan and his research team have made progress in the mechanism of carcinogenesis of liver cancer and colorectal cancer, as well as tumor markers.

In the research of colorectal cancer, Professor Xie Dan and his research team have found and confirmed the effect and position of new oncogene EIF5A2. The molecule can collect c-Myc to MTA1 promoter region and increase EMT, which promotes cancer cell of MTA1. In this way, the invasiveness has been enhanced. The over-expression of EIF5A2 has a close connection with the neoplasm metastasis, which is one of the reliable molecular markers of assessing unfavorable prognosis of colorectal cancer.

The series study has made an effective exploration on revealing malignant progress mechanism of liver cancer and colorectal cancer, especially in the early diagnosis and cure of liver cancer, and also provided new clue for clinical treatment.

The 2011 international renowned gastroenterology magazine Gut(IF 10.68)has published three articles of the research results. The influential gastroenterology magazine Oncogene (IF 7.47) has published two articles and Mol Med (IF 5.91) has published one.
