Academician Jiang Boju and Guo Boling Lecture on the East Campus

In order to build a favorable academic atmosphere and to broaden the students’ horizon of knowledge, the School of Mathematics and Computational Science invited Jiang Boju, a famous mathematician, topologist and member of Chinese Academy of Sciences, as well as Guo Boling, fellow member of Physical Department of Chinese Academy of Sciences to give lectures on the East Campus from December 9 and 17 respectively. The lectures were hosted by Zhu Xiping, President of School of Mathematics and Computational Science, and the vice President Yao Zhengan respectively.

Academician Jiang Boju lectured on “Torsion and Twist – A Geometric Formula about DNA”. With vivid language, He talked vividly on some related knowledge of Topology, from concrete to abstract, While Academician Guo Boling lectured on “Carry forward the Spirit of 'Two Bombs and One Satellite’, Promoting the Development of Chinese High-Technology”. He presented the general development of the development of Atomic Energy in China and annotated the spirit of “Two Bombs and One Satellite” which focuses on Patriotism, Collectivism and Innovativeness with true stories of the “Fathers of Two Bombs”.

The two lectures attracted more than 300 students.
