Cheese! Let’s Have A Family Portrait!
At the beginning of this semester, the Student Dormitory Council (Zhuhai campus), had carried out a new activity called Happy Family Portrait, with the aim of creating a homely feel as well as developing friendship for all the students.
The Student Dormitory Council invited the students to take family portraits with their roommates. The photos will be exhibited later in the rooms of dormitory culture.
Most students took active part in this activity, and considered it to be an interesting and meaningful activity which shows the friendship in dormitories." Campus anecdotes are unforgettable. And, maybe one day, when looking at the photos again, all our shared memories would come to life."said Ella Yu, a student majoring in Biochemistry.
However, some students believe there is still a distance between the activity and homely feel creation. Joany Chan, a student from the School of Life Science, said “It is the daily communication and mutual care that is the seed of the harmonious relationship among roommates. Photos alone are far from sufficient. Nonetheless, , Happy Family Portrait witnesses our growth. It’s a good activity.”
To gain a better understanding, the reporter interviewed Shaoping Mo, the Secretary-General of the Student Dormitory Council (Zhuhai campus).Shaoping Mo mentioned that this idea came from the dormitory institution in European universities.
"Most students live on campus, thus we all need a homely feel to make ourselves comfortable. I think this activity will help build up this feeling. Actually,in order to run the activity smoothly, we, the council members, have devoted all our spare time to consulting reference materials, drafting the activity plan, and arranging the staff.” Secretary-General Mo said.
Mo also said that they are done with the photo collection, and are now busied editing them. Students in charge of Every Dormitory Building will edit the photos of his or her own dormitory building. Finally, the photos will be exhibited in the form of posters on the wall of dormitory culture rooms in May. In your dormitory culture room, you may find all faces from your own dormitory building. Surely, you can spot some familiar smiles among them.
