Mourning Ceremony took place on the Zhuhai Campus of SYSU

ZHUHAI, April 21, 2010 - A NATIONAL MOURNING day .

People from all over the campus gathered together spontaneously at the south school gate of Sun Yat-Sen University ‘s Zhuhai campus this morning to attend the mourning ceremony for more than 2,000 victims killed in the devastating earthquake last week.

At 7:30 a.m., our national flag hoisted to full height and then lowered to half-mast as people paid a one minute silent tribute. Everything seemed to be absolutely quiet that even birds stopped singing. The whole campus was full of faint sorrow and infinite benediction. We wish the deceased will rest in sedateness and survivors will carry on their lives with strength!

In addition, public entertainment will be suspended throughout the campusaytoday, and so will the entire country.

So far, the 7.1-magnitude earthquake which struck Yushu, northwest China's Qinghai Province last week has caused 2,064 dead and 175 people are still missing... The quake has also caused 12,135 to be injured, of whom 1,434 were in serious condition.
