The Opening Ceremony for “Celebrate the EXPO; Embrace the Asian Games” Cultural Sports Festival Took Place on the East Campus

On the afternoon of April 27, “Countdown to the Asian Games- the Spring Round the Campus Long distance Running” and the Opening Ceremony for “Celebrate the EXPO; Embrace the Asian Games” Cultural Sports Festival Took Place in the west stadium of the Eastern Campus. Chen Chunsheng, vice president of SYSU, Peng Zhigang, deputy director of university union committee and persons in charge of various units and schools of the eastern campus attended the activity.

As vice president Chen Chunsheng pointed out at his speech that, with the joint effort of the teachers and students, the eastern campus culture has become richer and richer through heritage and innovation and a special kind of campus culture is taking shape. The east campus will undertake several Asian Games events, so it is profound to hold the round-campus long distance running here in the year of the Asian Games. Also, this series of activities will continually promote mass sports and the construction of a harmonious campus.

After the flag presentation ceremony, deputy director Peng Zhigang declared the official start of the long distance running. The whole phalanx of long-runners, in perfect alignment and with a measured tread, reunited at the stadium after 25 minutes. Vice president Chen Chunsheng and Deputy Director Peng Zhigang presented awards for the winners of “Excellent Team” and “High Morality’. In addition, a banner signing ceremony for “SYSU Crew Embrace the Asian Games” and a display activity for the Asian Games torch were carried out on the spots.

This activity is hosted by the branch university union committee of the east campus and received great supports from various units and schools.
