On October 21, 2017, the final of the 5th “Intel Cup” Parallel Application Challenge-PAC2017 ended in Hefei, Anhui province. The two teams sent by the Guangdong Province Key Laboratory of Computational Science under the School of Data and Computer Science at Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU) won medals and attended the award ceremony.

The Alpha and Omega team of the artificial intelligence group, consisting of Zheng Jiaxu, Lin Zibo, Wu Citao and Guo Baoyu, received the gold medal and the innovation achievement award. The SNPR team of the application group, consisting of Xia Zhongzhou, Wang Tianchen, Liu Peidong and Chen Xurui, received a bronze medal. The tutors of the two SYSU teams are Professor Lu Yao, Dr. Zhang Yongrui and Dr. Wu Junfeng.
