10000 Aided Students of SYSU Signed Gratitude Commitment
Guangzhou, December 30,2009 (News Express):Yesterday, SYSU launched the series of educational activities for aided students, to strengthen the students thanksgiving education, tens of thousands of students signed an undertaking and promised to be thankful and give back to the society.
Director of the SYSU Student Self-management Center Wang Tianqi maintained that, the aided students of SYSU are over ten thousand this year, including work-study, state loans, society donations and scholarships. They signed an undertaking to the rational use of grants, be grateful, and return the school with subvention actively in the future when they have the ability to. "But the undertaking does not have the force of law, but moral supervision, hoping that students abide by consciously." It is learned that last year, SYSU provided continued release of National Student Loan 18.95 million Yuan for a total of 3678 undergraduate students. At the ceremony, the representative of the students who had returned grants Zheng Dongting (graduate of Department of Chinese in 2002) published testimonials. It is learned that during the college period, Zheng Dongting had applied for student loans and obtained grants from Sun Hung Kai Properties 40,000 Yuan. After getting a job, he took the initiative to pay off the loan, but also donated money for the foundation to help junior fellow apprentice.
"What’s behind every donation is a commitment, the grant process is the education process, hoping that students will learn how to take responsibility." Deputy Secretary of Party Committee of SYSU Zhu Kongjun said that, from now on, SYSU will carry out related activities centre on the thanksgiving education, namely, the Patriotic education, credit education, responsibility education, self-improvement education and practical education, to achieve the unity among cognition, emotion and practice.
