Recently, Team Noah’s Ark from the Business School of Sun Yat-sen University (SYSBS) beat teams from other nine universities and became the champion of the third KPMG Cup Business Case Competition held in Xiamen. Noah’s Ark will be the only team that represents China in the KPMG’s International Case Competition on April 18 in Hong Kong. It is the first time that a university from mainland has won this championship. The winners in last two years were both from the University of Hong Kong.
The competition went on for half a year. A fierce contest developed among teams from ten universities, including the University of Hong Kong, National Chengchi University (Taiwan), Tsinghua University, Peking University, Fudan University, Zhejiang University, Xiamen University, Nanjing University, Nankai University, and Sun Yat-sen University. Noah’s Ark, the team from SYSU, comprised four sophomores from SYSBS: Shen Jiazhou (E-Commence), Huang Xujia (Business Administration), Zhang Jiechun (Accounting), and Zhao Danyang (Tourism & Hotel Management). SYSBS Accounting Department Associate Professor Zheng Guojian was their advisor and Wu Jialin from Student Affairs Office was their group leader.
In the final competition, Noah’s Ark won the championship by solving a complicated business case with thorough analysis and creative role-play presentation. Their brilliant performance was highly praised by judges and amazed the audiences who watched the competition on the spot or through live broadcasting. Zhejiang University and Xiamen University got the Second Prize, while Tsinghua University, Peking University and the University of Hong Kong shared the Third Prize.
