【Yangcheng Evening News】Social Entrepreneurship: A New Approach to University Students’ Undertaking

Guangdong Communist Youth League Committee, Guangdong Welfare Lottery Center and other departments hosted a special competition to encourage university students to start public welfare undertaking with economic vision and financial knowledge.

On April 28, the 2011 Guangdong University Students Welfare Lottery Awards ceremony was held in SYSU. Vice-governor of Guangdong Province Liu Kun attended this ceremony and presented awards to representatives of awards winners. Most of the social volunteers and teams reported by this newspaper before have won the awards. This year, Welfare Lottery Awards will launch the first social entrepreneurship competition. This new mode will bolster the public awareness of university students to server our society in return, and will also start a new approach to university students’ undertaking.

300 Teams and 100 Volunteers Awarded

The intention of setting Guangdong University Students Welfare Lottery Awards is to help the poor and the weak groups through various activities, what’s more important, to call for and praise the spirit of helping others so as to absorb more people to participate in the social philanthropy. Over the past two years, Guangdong college students have taken an active part in helping people in need. They went outside of the campus and visited many poverty stricken places all over the province. What’s more, students themselves have gathered rich social experience and developed the ability of planning and organizing.
