On the morning of April 28, jointly hosted by the provincial Youth League Committee, the provincial Welfare Lottery Center and the Provincial Federation of Students, the 2011 Ceremony of Guangdong University Students “Welfare Lottery Public Interest Award” and the Launch of the Award in 2012 was held in Sun Yat-sen University. Four prizes, namely “Excellent Team of Welfare Lottery Public Interest”, “Star of Welfare Lottery Public Interest”, “Excellent Instructor” and “Outstanding Organization Award”, were awarded. “The Welfare Lottery Public Interest Award” is also going to start the first Public Welfare Entrepreneurship Competition, which makes entrepreneurship in public welfare is no longer a dream.

Liu Kun, Vice Provincial Governor, Zheng Detao, Secretary of the Party Committee of SYSU, Liu Hong, Director of the Department of Civil Affairs of Guangdong Province and Zeng Yingru, Secretary of the Provincial Youth League Committee were present at the ceremony. 300 teams and 100 people were awarded.

"The Public Welfare Entrepreneurship Competition” aims to enable Guangdong University students to learn more about public service, to participate more in it and even to provide the opportunity to make public welfare as their future career aspirations. The competition urges the welfare volunteer teams to change from depending on “blood transfusion” to “hemopoiesis”, which means to transform from relying on funding to independent operation, so as to promote the sustainable development of public welfare undertaking. The competition is going to provide start-up funding, training, guidance, consultation, evaluation, resources, social communication and other support.
