SYSU Baseball and Softball Teams Win Championship and Runner-up in the Second South China University Baseball and Softball Championship

On June 3, 2012, the second South China University Baseball and Softball Championship was successfully completed in Guangzhou Sport University. A total of eight teams participated in this championship.

Led and coached by SYSU Department of Physical Education Deputy DirectorHe Jianghai, the baseball team and softball team of SYSU played with confidence and fighting spirit in games, achieving excellent records. The baseball team and the softball team took the first place and second place respectively in Division One, both two teams got the qualification of the National Baseball and Softball Championship, as representative teams of south region. In addition, two students of SYSU, Cui Tianyou and Lin Youqi were awarded the title of “excellent pitcher”, and another two students, Cheng Kewei and Niu Tianyi won the prize of “excellent batter”.

In recent years, baseball and softball games flourish in SYSU. The completed development system covering from physical education curriculum to club activities greatly contributes to impressive records gained in series of competitions. At present, the two teams are gearing up for the national championship to be held in Beijing in the middle of July. A student of SYSU School of Physics and Engineering, the key player Chen Yangxiang said, it was a pride of life to take part in competitions wearing the suits with the name of SYSU.
