Xiang Lin and Li Xiaojun from School of Tourism Management Win Gold Prize in TPO Tourism Universiade 2012 City Travel Product Planning Contest

At the end of July, Xianglin and Li Xiaojun, two students from School of Tourism Management, Sun Yat-sen University, represented Guangzhou to participate in TPO Tourism Universiade 2012 City Travel Product Planning Contest held in Busan Metropolitan City, Republic of Korea, and won gold prize. This contest was sponsored by Tourism Promotion Organization for Asia Pacific Cities (TPO), and 29 teams from 21 countries and regions took part in the contest.

Selected by Student Affairs Office, School of Tourism Management, and recommended by Tourism Administration of Guangzhou Municipality, Xianglin and Li Xiaojun represented Guangzhou to participate in the contest. Lin Jiayi and Lin Minhui, two teachers at School of Tourism Management, offered detailed guidance to the participation plan of the two students.

In their work entitled “Sailing Charm of Guangzhou”, the two students dig into the tourism resources of Guangzhou as the starting point of the Silk Road on the Sea, link up scenic spots and custom experience in Guangzhou with the theme of ship and sea, and in historical order design a 5-day Guangzhou tour route. In the flash presentation at the contest, they led the audience into Guangzhou, travelling from past to present. The dialogue style of their presentation was novel without sacrificing content, and the mobile phone software used in the presentation demonstrated the advantages of modern technology. Their work impressed the judges with its creative design idea and active and novel presentation style, and thus won gold prize.
