SYSU Student Chen Chao Wins Second Place in the 6th Cross-Strait University Student Speech Contest

"The 6th Cross-Strait University Student Speech Contest” came to an end in Taipei on September 14. Chen Chao, a second grade postgraduate student from the School of Business, SYSU was the runner-up with the second highest score.

The speech contest was held during the 8th Cross-Strait Book Fair. Students from ten well-known universities in mainland China and Taiwan were invited to attend the contest to promote cross-strait cultural communication and friendship among the youth. The competitors were from Tsinghua University, Sun Yat-sen University, Xiamen University, Communication University of China, Soochow University, National Chengchi University (Taiwan), National Cheng Kung University (Taiwan), Soochow University (Taiwan), National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, and National Taiwan Ocean University.

The final of the speech contest took the form of a prepared speech on a given topic and an impromptu speech. Chen Chao gave a prepared speech entitled “Reading and Inheriting——as Diversified as Trees” with a unique content and detailed explanation, and a splendid impromptu speech that won praise from the audience and judges. In the end, Wang Chuan from Tsinghua University won the champion in the speech contest.
