SIS Cheering Squad Won Champion in National Cheerleading League Competition (Guangdong Division)

On the morning of September 23rd, in the National Cheerleading League Competition (Guangdong Division) held at the gymnasium of Guangzhou University, the 14-member cheering squad of the School of International Studies (SIS) at Sun Yat-sen University won the champion in pompon in division 2 of the university group, and the second runner-up in pompon of compulsory routine in division 1 of the university group. Led by Coach Zhang Hongxing, the team also won the title of National Star Athletes. The cheerleader Zhou Jieying and advanced instructor Wen Jieyi entered the top 20 of the National Cheerleading Star Championship Guangdong Division. SIS cheering squad is the only school-level team on behalf of SYSU to have participated in the National Cheerleading League Competition and won champion in the national level competition.
The National Cheerleading League Competition was jointly organized by General Administration of Sport of China and Federation of University Sports of China. Over 30 teams took part in the competition. SIS cheering squad was founded in 2007. In the past 5 years, the team has gained great achievement. As a school-level organization, the team competed on campus, headed to municipal contests and national contests, and even obtained the opportunity to take part in the Cheerleading Asia Open. They dance to the song of youth and sweat for their dream, showing the unity, dedication and vigor of SYSU students.
