SYSU Athletes Achieved Great Results at the Guangdong College Students Track and Field Championship

SYSU Athletics Team in the 2012 Guangdong College Students Track and Field Championship

From December 8th to 9th, the 2012 Guangdong College Students Track and Field Championship was held on the campus of South China University of Technology in Guangzhou Higher Education Mega Center. 926 athletes of 69 colleges and universities from around Guangdong Province took part in the competition. SYSU sent 23 athletes to compete in the first division (for general college students) and the second division (for high-level athletes). After 2 days of fierce competition, SYSU athletes won 5 gold, 3 silver and 3 bronze medals through their great efforts. They got the fourth place in Men’s Team in the first division and another fourth place in Men’s Team in the second division. The team in the first division got the eighth place while that in the second division ended in a fifth place.

The results obtained in this competition are the best that SYSU has ever achieved in recent years. It reflects the physical and mental efforts endeavored by SYSU athletes, both general students and high-level athletes, and their coaches to win honor for the University. It will also promote further development of our University’s sports culture and competitive sports.
