The Third Youth Exchange Activity between Legal Circles of Guangdong and Hong Kong hosted by the Hong Kong Students Association of the School of Law at Sun Yat-sen University and Hong Kong Youths Unified Association was recently held in SYSU. It is a key exchange project between Guangdong and Hong Kong applied for by the School of Law to the Ministry of Education in 2012.

The Third Youth Exchange Activity between Legal Circles of Guangdong and Hong Kong

Through visiting public security organs, people's procuratorates, people's courts, law firms, patriotic education bases, listening to lectures on national conditions, and taking part in symposiums, the event gave the 36 students from The University of Hong Kong, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, City University of Hong Kong and Hong Kong Shue Yan University a vivid introduction on the development in mainland China during recent years in legal construction and education, demonstrated the achievements made in recent years by colleges and universities in Guangdong in the structural reform of legal education, broadened Hong Kong students’ knowledge of the mainland’s economic, social and cultural development and heightened their sense of belonging and identification with Chinese culture.

The event also fostered the link and enhanced the cultural and academic exchange in the field of law between faculties and students in Guangdong and Hong Kong, broadened the students’ international horizons, and promoted friendship between the youth. Besides, SYSU faculty and students had their knowledge extended on legal circles in Hong Kong, providing a rational cultural and legal resource for solving future legal conflicts between the two localities.
