SYSU students volunteered at the 2nd Investing in Africa Forum

On September 7-8, 2016, the 2nd Investing in Africa Forum, organized by the People’s Government of Guangdong Province, China Development Bank and the World Bank Group, was held in Guangzhou. 51 students from the School of International Studies and School of Foreign Languages at Sun Yat-sen University were selected as volunteers for the Forum. They provided translation service for the participants at the airport, news center, registration center, document center, etc, where English and French were the main working languages.

The student volunteers started preparation during the summer holiday. At the beginning of the new semester, they received training in etiquette and first aid, and learned more about the Forum. They started the volunteer services for the Forum on September 3 and completed the volunteer tasks on September 10.

During the Forum, the outstanding performance of SYSU student volunteers was highly praised by the participants from at home and abroad. Xu Shaohua, Vice Governor of Guangdong Province, communicated with some volunteers and took a group photo with them. Li Sen, President of Young Volunteers Association of Guangdong Province, visited the volunteers on behalf of the preparation group.
