SYSU students win 1 gold, 4 silver and 2 bronze medals in The Third National Kayak Championship for College Students

On October 20-21, 2018, The Third National Kayak Championship for College Students was held in Yue’qing, Zhejiang province. Teams from more than 20 colleges and universities including Tsinghua University, Zhejiang University, Xiamen University and Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU) participated in the competition.

Winning 1 gold, 4 silver and 2 bronze medals, SYSU Kayak Team was awarded second prize in total score in this two-day competition. It is the team’s best result in history after the breakthrough of earning medals and gold medals in the Second National Kayak Championship for College Students in 2017.

Medals and Awards for SYSU Kayak Team
 
Led by deputy secretary Chen Zhengyu of School of Data and Computer Science, and coached by Zhao Yunlei and Yang Lichun from Department of Physical Education, SYSU Kayak Team, consisting of 15 students from different schools and departments, participated in The Third National Kayak Championship for College Students. SYSU participants competed with excellent athletes from colleges and universities across the country in 15 items including MK1 200m, MK1 200m, WK1 200m, WK1 500m, MK2 200m, WK2 200m, C4 200m and Single Peddle Board 500m. It’s worth mentioning that 11 of the 15 students who participated in the contests are ranked among the top 7, reflecting the strength of SYSU Kayak Team.
