SYSU students win awards in ASC19

On April 25, 2019, the ASC19 Student Supercomputer Challenge (ASC19) finals came to a close at Dalian University of Technology. The team of Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU) won the e Prize, the Group Competition, and the first prize of the finals. This is the best result that SYSU has achieved since participating in the ASC competition in 2012.

ASC19 was jointly organized by Asia Supercomputer Community, Inspur Group and Dalian University of Technology. More than 300 teams from colleges all over the world signed up and 20 of them, including Tsinghua University, Peking University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University among others, entered the finals. This is the eighth consecutive year that SYSU team has reached the finals.

The SYSU team consists of students from the School of Data and Computer Science, Wang Yongfeng, Liang Ting, Jin Baihui, Wu Zhiyuan, Ouyang Runyu, and Liu Zihui. They were tutored by Professor Du Yunfei, chief engineer of the National Supercomputer Center in Guangzhou, and the coaching group consisting of Feng Guangnan, Zhang Liyue, Cai Rongyu, Liang Jiexin. Their pursuit of computing limits and the love of supercomputers are the main driving forces for participating in the world competition. Their dedication, collaboration, and tacit cooperation are the key strengths for achieving good results.
