From April 6th to 8th, 2016, the Second G20 Sherpa Meeting was held in Guangzhou. 40 students from School of Foreign Languages, Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU) were selected as volunteers for the event. They provided services including translation, guidance, inquiry and pickup, together with student volunteers from Guangdong University of Foreign Studies. Their services were highly appreciated by the organizer and the guests from home and abroad.

During the meeting, SYSU students performed their duties with responsibility, solidarity and passion, demonstrating their strong abilities and positive attitudes. They served the guests attentively, and did their best to complete every seemingly small task, whatever positions they were assigned to. Volunteer Li Ping said the experience was tiring yet meaningful. “I have learned a lot, and I feel I have broadened my horizon and improved my communication skills by participating in the event”, another volunteer Dai Jiangshan shared her ideas. Peng Yirui, serving in the pickup group in the airport, said, “Far from the spotlights, we are equally devoted and committed to our jobs, guaranteeing that everything moves on smoothly.”
